Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation and they keep our organisation grounded. They come from all walks of life and provide reach across a huge county.

We currently hold the Investors in Volunteers (IiV) accreditation and Carers Award. We support, nurture and work with our volunteers to help them achieve their own personal goals.

Dr Maria Prior


“Most of my varied career has involved working in health related sectors. Initially, I trained and worked as a Registered General Nurse in the 1980s and 1990s. After completing a degree in Mathematics, I moved into teaching health related subjects and statistics in Further & Higher Education before commencing a 12 year career in Health Services Research at The University of Aberdeen.

“I have a PhD in Public Health and much of my research focussed on identifying priorities for behaviour change in individuals and organisations and exploring barriers to optimal professional practice.  These skills are transferable to any business sector and in 2016 my husband and I moved to Lincolnshire where I am a Director of an Aviation Safety Consultancy. 

“I am extremely proud to be a Trustee of HWLincs as it is important to me that I contribute my time, effort, skills and experience to the community in which I live.”

Clive Green

Vice Chair 

Clive lives in Spalding. He has worked in the engineering industry for most of his life having national and international success for companies such as Caterpillar. Clive had a consultancy business for six years which he has now shut down as he was keen to start early retirement. Clive has been a volunteer with Healthwatch Lincolnshire for the past three years and has supported the charity in many ways including community engagement activities; Enter & View visits and Investors in Volunteers.

Dr Brian Wookey

“I am retired following working as a GP in Boston for 35 years and other organisations including as Chairman of East Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust 2002 – 2006, a member of South Lincolnshire Health Authority 1981 – 1989; a member of Lincolnshire Police Authority 2007 – 2012 and as a trustee of UK Anaphylaxis Campaign Charity 2006 – present. My interests include my grandchildren, sport and climbing mountains.  I am passionate about the NHS as a public service.

Development of Healthwatch into a strong and trusted advocate for the public in Lincolnshire, ensuring the provision of high quality compassionate care throughout the NHS and Social Care System.”

Paul Martin

“I retired in March 2010 from a career, which began in 1971 as an articled clerk, with a major firm of chartered accountants in the City of London and as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

“I spent 14 years as a compliance manager in the financial services sector with a major stockbroking firm and an investment management and banking group, 11 years in administration and corporate finance, four years running my own financial consultancy and retail business and finally nine years as a director with a leading trade association lobbying the UK government, the European Commission and other international bodies on behalf of members.”

Pauline Mountain MBE

Chair of the PEC Committee

“I have three children and three grandchildren, and led a full and varied working career from a hairdressing apprentice to development manager for a large corporate company before establishing my own catering company.

“I’ve walked the rocky road as a carer whilst running my own business and have also been instrumental in influencing future services to support carers within Lincolnshire which resulted in the Lincolnshire Carers and Young Carers Partnership becoming an independent organisation.

“I am the founder and Chair of Hearts Of Positive Energy (HOPE) providing a support network for heart failure patients, carers and their families. I have chaired a number of health and social care organisations and am currently Deputy Chair of the Excellent Ageing Steering Group and a Carer Governor of the Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust.  I was honoured to receive an MBE for ‘services to Carers’. I consider it a privilege to be contributing to health, social and voluntary organisations locally, regionally and nationally providing constructive and realistic focus from a grassroots aspect.”

Lyndia Moulder

Member of the Board

Lyndia lives in Boston. She has worked in health-related services for all of her working life, her last post up to 2012 as a MRI radiographer and from 2005 – 2008 as Unit Manager for InHealth which was contracted to Nottingham City Hospital.

Lyndia is well known in the Boston area having been an elected member of Boston Borough Council from 1979 – 1991 and as joint founder of a dental practice in the town.

David A Gaskell

Member of the Board

David is a qualified Social Worker, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. He has previously worked in both Adults and Children’s Local Authority provision [Lincolnshire, Greater Manchester and Derbyshire].

For a period of nine years he was employed in Corporate Project Management and Commissioning in the Social Services Sector Lincolnshire [Procedures and Guidance] whilst he also has experience of Residential Services in the Charitable Third Sector.

In addition to his Healthwatch role, David is presently a Postgraduate Co-researcher at the University of Lincoln based in the School of Health and Social Care.

Mrs Elizabeth Ball

I have enjoyed spending the past 37 years of my career working within the NHS. Commencing my nurse training in 1983 at Worksop and Mansfield School of Nursing, my career progressed from Student Nurse to the post of Chief Nurse in Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group, until I retired in September 2020.

I have worked in Lincolnshire since 2008, this has included working as General Manager for Lincolnshire Community Health Services (LCHS) from 2011 to 2013 and as Deputy Chief Nurse at United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust (ULHT) from 2013 to 2016, until I took up the post as Director of Nursing and Quality at South Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group.

With the opportunity to develop effective nursing leadership and management skills, I have worked with some amazing people along the way and been responsive to some heart rendering patient stories that have shaped my values and beliefs. These have made me the person that I am today.

I have always been passionate about patient centred care and I hope to continue with this philosophy in my role as a Volunteer Director/Trustee for HWLincs/Healthwatch Lincolnshire.

Paul Rhodes

Paul is a senior business development professional with a decade of experience working in health and social care, the third sector and politics.

In his recent roles he has specialised in business growth and change projects, with previous experience developing social enterprises that supported vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.

Paul has also worked on political campaigns where he developed media and communication skills, which he now brings to Healthwatch.

In addition to his role as an additional director, he also serves as director of HWL Services Ltd, Healthwatch Lincolnshire’s subsidiary trading company.

Paul lives in Grantham with his wife, Kirsty. They both enjoy travelling, good food and all things France.

Mr Navaz Sutton

As the current Director of Development for Active Lincolnshire and dedicating my entire career to the county; I am extremely passionate about the health and wellbeing of our local communities. I thrive on strategically driving development, change and efficiency to make a positive impact on people’s experiences of leading a healthier life and ultimately improving their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

I have been involved in roles from delivery of programmes and initiatives through to strategy development and collaborative leadership. For many years I have supported national consultation groups and local steering groups to influence initiative roll out and to drive an insight driven approach to delivery and learning.

My whole career has been dedicated to maximising opportunities for all members of the community, young and old; to live a healthy and active lifestyle, therefore, I am delighted to be part of the HWLincs Board, it has provided me with an opportunity to pass on my knowledge, expertise and passion to an organisation with Lincolnshire people at the heart of their ethos.
