New Report Highlights Accessibility Needs Across East Lindsey
HWLincs is pleased to share our latest independent public engagement report, the East Lindsey Accessible Places Report 2026. Commissioned by East Lindsey District Council, this research supports the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion strategy. Our team set out to gather a deep, evidence-based understanding of how local residents navigate and access public buildings, outdoor town centres, and coastal beaches.
To ensure a comprehensive view of local needs, we delivered a multi-phase engagement process including a YourVoice@Healthwatch public event, targeted focus groups, and a widespread survey that captured 801 online and paper responses from across the community.
The findings reveal that while the majority of residents look up accessibility details before they travel, reliable information is currently difficult to find. Furthermore, key barriers such as poorly maintained pavements, a lack of accessible toilets, and limited accessible parking continue to impact daily life.
Putting people with lived experience at the heart of change is central to everything we do. The core themes identified in this report will now serve as a crucial foundation for future local improvements.
Moving forward, the report outlines clear recommendations to enhance accessibility across East Lindsey, focusing on providing clearer signage, reducing pavement clutter, improving essential amenities, and fostering better community understanding.
