Boston Oral Health Survey
Oral Health Matters – Have your say…
Good oral health is about more than just your teeth. It can affect your ability to eat, speak and smile, as well as your confidence, wellbeing and everyday life. We want to understand what oral health means to people living in Boston and the surrounding areas, so we are carrying out a survey throughout August.
Why Boston?
Recent studies found that levels of tooth decay in Boston were higher than the average across England. Almost four in every ten of the 5-year-old children sampled in Boston had dental decay, compared with England’s average of around two in ten.
We have launched our survey so we can hear your views and beliefs about looking after your teeth and mouth. We’d like to know where, if anywhere, you go for information, advice and support about your oral health. You can also tell us about any barriers that make it difficult to look after your oral health or access dental care.
How will the survey feedback be used?
Your feedback will be used by HWLincs and the Lincolnshire Oral Health Alliance Group to:
- Better understand the oral health needs and experiences of people living in and around Boston, and also across the wider Lincolnshire area
- Support the development of the Lincolnshire Dental Strategy
- Help inform the design and delivery of oral health improvement programmes, along with better delivery of health and dental services
The survey should take between five and fifteen minutes to complete, depending on how much detail you would like to share; it’s mostly tick-box questions, but there is an opportunity to share your views in more detail should you wish; all feedback will be anonymously presented, unless you consent otherwise.
The survey will be available to complete until 30th August 2026.
